The Weekend Recap: Sergio Martinez Disappoints, Zab Judah Impresses
Saturday turned out out to be a great day for boxing, but only if you exclude Sergio’s performance from that night. Let’s be honest, Sergio Martinez showed his age last Saturday night, he appeared to be gassed and unable to hit his opponent with any clean shots. Martin Murray’s cage-like defense was the difference maker, turning Sergio’s infamous left hand practically invisible. But because of all the factors (weather, location, and suffering a broken hand), I’ll give him a pass. At the end of the day, Murray did not do enough to beat the champion and Sergio did just enough to win. If you want my opinion, Sergio Martinez only has one good fight left in him so he should look for the biggest contract and sign away, I’m thinking maybe Gennady Golovkin.
In other news, did anybody know Judah had a heart? Well he definitely showed it the other night, as he was able to shake off a 6th round knockdown and come back like a true warrior for the second half of the fight, he has earned my respect and this would be a great way for him to go out. And as for Garcia, I’m not impressed. He gots a mean right hook but other than that, I don’t see him going very far, he is all power. But he is young, so he still has time to increase his arsenal.
Last but not least, Amir Khan is a joke. Hey Oscar! We don’t want to watch Mayweather vs Khan...
